Working Student Position
Course Outline
Exposure to hands on experience is the fundamental principle of the
working student programme. Students are fully integrated into all
aspects of the equestrian facility. They will participate in all
stable duties and property maintenance. They will have the
opportunity to ride daily, on green and advanced horses. There is a
strong emphasis placed on developing riding skills and confidence.
Students will receive a daily riding lesson and may have additional
riding assignments. Instruction will be in al three disciplines:
dressage, stadium and XC. Additional instruction will also be given
in lunging, stable management, teaching, and business management.
Riders are encouraged to set their own goals and develop a plan for
themselves and their horses. Riders are encouraged to compete at
local competitions and take part in all stable functions.
Timetable
Students become part of the operating staff which is a full-time
commitment. The day begins at 7:000 am and generally is finished at
4:00m. Additional assignments and activities may require additional
time.
Estimate of weekly hours of instruction:
5-7 hours of mounted instruction
2 hours of practical or theoretical instruction
Coaching at competitions also included

Each student will have their own private bedroom. Students may bring
pets if they are house broken and get along with resident dog. There
is no smoking in the house. The house is 12 minutes from the barn so
students will need their own transportation.
Students are responsible for their own meal preparation. There are
laundry facilities at the house. It is not essential for them to
stay at the house if they have other accommodation elsewhere.
Use of a horse or board for your horse is included; all additional
